Quality, format, and maximum width
JPG and WebP quality control the trade-off between visual detail and encoded file size. WebP is a practical default for web images; JPG works well for photos but removes transparency. A maximum width can reduce both dimensions proportionally without upscaling smaller files.
What compression can and cannot guarantee
The tool reports the real output size and does not guarantee that every export becomes smaller. PNG export is lossless and ignores the quality slider, so re-encoding a PNG can produce a similar or larger file. Animated GIF input uses its first frame, and JPG replaces transparent pixels with white.

Does JPG preserve transparent backgrounds?

What happens to animated GIF files?
